so i'm in the bathtub

and I realize how long it's been since the last time i blogged!

I did however, figure that you could keep up with my life reading Maija's blog.. She writes almost everyday, and other than hanging out with her and her family, I don't really do much...

I work.
I play softball.
I hate my wisdom teeth.
I facebook.
I sleep.
I talk to Jessa and Zach on the phone.

I have a pretty boring life here in Kotzebue, and I don't have a camera, so no wicked cool pictures...
you may have read on Maija's blog that I had a CRAZY fourth of July. Not only was I a bridesmaid in my cousin Angeline's wedding, I participated in Miss Arctic Circle, and helped Maija get ready for the trade fairs, AKA Qatnut.
I have to say, never again will I allow myself to do so much stuff. I was super stressed, and I didn't get nearly enough sleep. Sometimes I still feel like I am trying to calm down, and catch up on sleep.

personally, I LOVE weddings! but wow, there have been so many this month! Just yesterday, my 'sister' Evik called me at 2, and asked for my help. She was freaking out, cause they had spent the night before decorating the church with alder and fireweed and other wildflowers. When she went to the church to make the last adjustments, she found EVERYTHING wilted and dead looking! Of course I agreed to help her, and I left work to help decorate for a wedding, when I didn't know bride OR groom! ( I later realized, I did know the bride) We re-did all of the decorations, and they ended up looking very very nice. We also added the final touches to the boquets for the bridesmaids, and made Mrs. Schaeffer's boquet, which turned out very very pretty. The wedding itself was nice and short. The funniest thing happened. RIGHT BEFORE the bride and groom kissed, the groom took out a shot of tequila and took it! Then he kissed his bride. Personally, I would be very mad at the groom, but she thought it was funny, and so did the rest of the church. The reception was decorated very nice as well, and the cake was something else! it was three tiered, and on the top, was the bride chasing the groom, and on the other side, was a snowmachine! I thought "only in Alaska" hahahahaha After the cake was cut, the bride threw her boquet, and guess who caught it? if you guessed me, WOW your an amazing guesser! I thought it was ironic, because I made it and all, but it's very pretty, and is currently hanging upside down in the laundry room, sprayed with hairspray!

Latley, I have been fighting with my job, and so far, my job is winning. We got a new supervisor this summer, and at first she was very nice. BUT not so much anymore. I hear that she was once a principal, and I have no issues believing it, cause she treats us like we were 1o. "I don't want to hear you laughing" "do I hear you guys talking? because I really shouldn't" and so on...You wonder why my job is winning possibly? It's winning cause I can't afford to quit, or just stop going... ehh hopefully in the fall I will have a decent job.

I vow to write in my blog a lot more often when I actually have a life to talk about. (when I move back to Anchorage)

once again, no pictures

I was going to post a blog at Maija's today, but instead I went over to my Aunt Lovie and cousin Buddy's, who passed away in a fire in December of 2007. The house had not been cleaned out after it burned almost to the ground. Her daughter decided this year when the City did their large item pick up, that most of her mother's house would be torn down, put in in a pile, and picked up. Today was extra special, becuase it would have been Buddy's 7th birthday, and he loved tractors and things like that. (which of course were used in the process of tearing the house down) It was such an 'eye sore' as Saima called it to pass by Aunt Lovie's house. I have to say, even though I just flagged most of the time we were out there, I enjoyed being able to watch everything come apart. It was relaxing in a sense. Sure I passed by her house plenty of times and it was obvious that it had burnt down, but I never actually went to the house. I missed her funeral because I was on a trip to Las Vegas. It will be nice to pass by her property and see that the burnt house is gone, and a fresh new start is available.

On a different note, Cathy's husband caught an Ugruk a couple nights ago, and on Sunday and Monday, Zach and I spent many hours at Maija's house, helping with what we could. Zach had only seen seals alive and in the water, so he thought it was pretty cool. We did however, have to do the 'little kid' jobs... like cut the excess meat off of the blubber and cut the blubber in strips. We even took the four wheeler out to toward the cemetary and pick stinkweed for the floor of the drying room. I have to say, picking stinkweed during this time of the year is no easy task. The old dead stinkweed is still connected, and the plant itself is only about 5 or 6 inches high. We filled 4 trash bags about 2/3 full though.

YAY Maija, Dean, and the family is back from their vacation, which means no more ducks, and no more stinky loose dogs. whoop whoop.

I am off to bed, thankful that someone in the heavens was looking down on us today and blessing us with PERFECT weather for tearing a house down. I have a feeling i'll sleep like a baby tonight.

If it's not one thing, it's another

I spoke too soon about being semi happy about the animals. The ducks are still not giving me problems, except for the fact that they are in the dark, and I need to find a new extension cord, and a new place to plug it in, since Shockie chewed up the first extension cord, and the only plug in that I can get to is near her...
I don't know where keys are to the bed and breakfast, so I can't use those plug ins, however; they would be perfect.
The dogs are driving me nuts now! As soon as I let them both in lastnight, Shockie peed on the floor.. and then this morning, Nudge did. No more water during the day for them.. just when I feed them in the morning. Not only did they pee on the floor, just because I thought I could fall asleep in a quiet house, the dogs had other plans for my night. They wrestled ALL night lastnight. I was very very very angry after about the 10th time I woke up to them growling at each other and bumping into the bed and walls etc..
So I did what any other sleepy crazy woman would do, I got up, swore a few times, and then beat the dogs up. They then went to opposite sides of the bedroom, where Nudge sounded like an old man snoring all night and Shockie was breathing so hard, I swear she was having an asthma attack.
Just when I thought that they couldn't get into any more trouble, I came home for lunch and found Shockie loose... AGAIN
She got into all the trash I picked up YESTERDAY from when she got into it on Saturday.... She is now really really DIRTY, and will not sleep in the house for the remainder of my stay at Maija's. She is also stuck inside the kennel, becuase she has now broken THREE collars, and Maija and Dean do not have anymore.

I have run out of reasons to keep her at all....

I decided on a name for my duck... dinner

here are the two pictures I took for my last blog!

Since then, Saima has come home. She brought home potty pads, which were supposed to make my life easier, because they are much easier to clean. Saima however, decided that the ducks were far too large to still be inside the house. So, her and I, but mostly her, went into the meat drying 'room' and made a little corner for them. We put hay on the ground, and took out any potential dangers. Saima found use to one of the old games that Maija and Dean made for Kaisa's birthday. It was perfect, I came inside and got a lightbulb and a new water bowl. I found Kaisa's REALLY old stool that she used to be able to reach the sink and filled it with water. The ducks LOVE it. Not only can they drink and clean themselves with it, some even swim in it. We also found a plastic dish to use for the food. FINALLY it was time to put the ducks in their new home. As soon as I started putting them in there, they were going crazy, being louder than ever. One duck was even trying to swim in the hay, it was the funniest thing! Saima called and left a message on Maija's cell phone so she could hear how happy they were, and we sat and watched them for aboutj 15 minutes, I have to say they are much cuter now that they are not in the house. Still though, I am no where near as attached to them as I thought I would be, and I will still be fine with shooting/eating them for dinner, hence the name of my wonderful mallard: DINNER!

I figured it's a name that is perfect, since we will be eating him for dinner. (I decided he is a male)

The ducks grow SO much everyday, a couple of the Harlequins look like actual ducks. They don't have much feathers yet, but they are HUGE!

I would post pictures and a video of the very happy, ever growing ducks, but the only camera I have is the one that's built into this computer. I figure that it's not the best idea to try and take it outside.

I vow

to NEVER get ducks. or more than one dog at a time. Maija and her WHOLE family went to Dean's hometown. He is super excited, and so is everyone else. They did manage to buy TWELVE, I repeat TWELVE ducklings a few days before they left.. They were cute and cuddly the first couple of days, but now that Maija and Dean are gone, they are very very very stinky, and LOUD they managed to learn how to sound like an actual duck, instead of just a mild whistle, so all I hear are ducks quaking, CONSTANTLY. It's making me crazy! Since they are THREE times the size as they were before, they seem to be hungry a lot more often, and that means that they poop a whole bunch more! GROSS. They also are growing feathers, which means they are pokey, and GROSS feeling.
I have to clean their kennel like home THREE times a day! GROSS. I spend the majority of my one hour lunch break cleaning them out, which leaves me with little time to eat, becuase I change my clothes, change the kennel, and then I have to change my clothes AGAIN. gross. Needless to say, I am not the most excited about having ducks as pets.

Not only are the ducks driving me wild, Shockey, the BEAUTIFUL lab, managed to get loose the DAY Maija left. She had Nudge chew through her collar and then she dug in the trash. She didn't just dig though, she dragged the trash over to Nudge, because god forbid she leave him out of the fun, since he was still tied up. I called Dean about a new collar for her, and he, of course, told me to call Maija, who had me put her in the kennel outside. Of course Shockey pooped in that kennel, and then WALKED/LAY all over it! GROSS! (starting to get the repetition?) She will be sleeping outside for the remainder of Dean and Maija's vacation.

On top of the GROSS things i have to deal with, i CANNOT sleep at all. I am terrified of the DUMBEST things. I fall asleep, have a nightmare, wake up scared, go back to sleep, and then have the SAME nightmare. OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, until I give up and start reading or something. and when I finally fall asleep and stop having the same nightmare, my alarm goes off and i have work. This past week, I have been physically at work, and thats about it. I don't even know what I wore today. yikes.

On a positive note, I had dinner with the Hull's and Tuning's lastnight. It was really really good! We had our first practice for softball, which makes me excited to play this summer. AND best of all, Zach is coming next Friday. WHOOP WHOOP

I wrote most of this blog lastnight, but the internet stopped working, of course. I also had pictures of how I felt, and one of the ducks.. they will be posted later.

I should probably be working.

it's been too long

since I posted a new blog, so here are three..todays, and two that I wrote in the course of the past two weeks.

SIKE!

I saved the ones I wrote wrong. so dumb.

here's a brief!

It took me over 8 hours of flying to make it back to Kotzebue, which SUCKED. I got on flight 151 on Saturday to make it home for graduation... and didn't actually make it to Kotzebue until flight 151 on Sunday, after having missed graduation! that was very frustrating, and sad.

I started working on Monday morning at 7, and so far, my job SUCKS the people I work with drive me absolutley nutso! I do however get paid on Friday.. hopefully, because as of right now, I don't have an employee number, which might mean no paycheck. Which would RUIN my birthday, which happens to be on Friday as well!

Kotzebue is cold. and there is WAYY too much water and snow. I have to wear my rubber boots to work every morning, and yesterday, I almost got wet, because the water in my front yard was so deep. Today though, Charlotte, Maija, Kaisa, Nudgent, and I went for a walk, and it was pretty nice. I am starting to enjoy the weather here.

On Sunday, I took the time to cut off Charlotte's cast. Onni broke her knuckle a few weeks back, and after an eventfull night out, her cast got very very wet. and STINKY. So I cut it off, it took us a set of plyers, tweezers, a knife, and a pair of kitchen scissors...that broke (=

I ended up with very sore thumbs.. and then I called Zach, who informed me that if we had just soaked her cast in hot water, it would have unraveled. STUPID!

off to bed for me!
